Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience is bringing some much needed beauty and light to this 2020!
Spanning 72 acres of Franklin Park Zoo, Boston Lights is comprised of more than 50 large scale displays of hundreds of colorful lanterns. As you stroll along a one way path winding throughout the zoo you will be amazed by the dramatic and colorful arches, tunnels (including a 66 foot long shark tunnel), giant dragon, pandas, ocean scenes and more! The theme of the experience is the incredible diversity of our natural world with an opportunity for guests to learn more about some of the animals featured and Zoo New England’s conservation efforts. Boston Lights is presented in partnership with National Grid and all of the lanterns are illuminated with energy saving LED lights! I highly recommend taking the time to wander through these amazing lights with your favorite someone or make it a family date night! We truly loved it. We were amazed at how you become immersed in the lights and the experience – a much needed fun escape!
This is an all outdoors experience and there are lots of extra safety precautions in place to keep it fun and safe for all to enjoy with peace of mind during this time. Tickets are sold in advance online and ticketing is timed along with guest capacity limits. The path around is one way and marked with designated distance markers in certain spots to avoid congestion. There are also hand sanitizer stations along the way. All visitors (over age of 2) are required to wear face coverings for their entire time throughout the zoo.
This is an amazing display that is dazzling for all ages. There are so many instagrammable moments throughout the experience as well! The colorful lit lantern paths, shark tunnel, and giant (197 foot long) dragon were a few of our favorites. As you can see from the photos of our visit, the whole experience is truly special. It is sure to bring some much needed smiles and light for all who visit!
